Key Data

Simon Oliver joined Ove Arup & Partners London, in September 1988 as a Public Health Engineer.  He worked within a multi-disciplinary team and was responsible for all aspects of Public Health piped services as well as management of the design process.  He has a broad experience on a variety of diverse projects as both activity leader and project manager.

 

He was responsible for forecasting, planning Manpower requirements and scheduling work load as well as feasibility studies, project appraisals, preparation of budgets, cost control and all aspects of the design process on commercial, industrial as well as health and pharmaceutical projects.

 

Having worked in the UK, Europe and the Far East he transferred to Harare, Zimbabwe in September 1993 and became an Associate Partner in July 1996 responsible for the development of the Wet Services Department working on a number of projects within Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and South Africa.

 

In August 1997 he formed his own Company, EDP Consulting Engineers, Zimbabwe.

 

In 2003 he became a Partner of TSW Project Managers and Consulting Engineers, Zimbabwe.

 

In June 2005 he became the Managing Director of TSW Consulting Engineers (Pty) Ltd in South Africa and in January 2006 he resigned to form his own practice DESIGN-ONE consulting Engineers based in Johannesburg.

Colin Parfitt

Key Data

Colin has over 17 years experience in the electrical industry, having started his career at Iscor as a project engineer, in the Energy Systems Division of the Pretoria works. Since 1994 Colin has worked in the consulting engineering industry and has developed a broad knowledge of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering industry.

 

Colin spent 3 years in Windhoek from 1995 to 1998 where he handled projects ranging from sewage and water treatment to hospitals as well as specialist medical installations such as CT scanners, and Radiation Therapy Units.

 

Since his return to RSA in 1998 Colin has handled a variety of projects ranging from 132kV overhead lines and substation expansion projects at various voltages (11, 33, 66, 88 and 132kV) This included the installation of 132kV power factor correction installation for the Tshwane Metro. Colin has also been involved in a variety of other municipal infrastructure projects and low/ medium and high cost housing developments.

 

Colin has also developed expertise in Telemetry and SCADA systems as well as Security Installations including Access Control and CCTV installations.

Joseph Tambudze Chirima

Joseph was a graduate design engineer for Ove-Arup and Partners from the end of 1992 to the end of 1994.   He was a HVAC services Project Engineer for CNM and Partners from 1995-1996.

 

He worked for UKM Consulting Engineers as a Project Engineer in charge of the mechanical services department, from 1996 till 1998.

 

In 1998 he joined as a Partner in Reclon Consulting roject Engineer in the firm I hold responsibilities ranging from job sourcing, to general mechanical engineering project management. The duties include designing, tendering, adjudication of tenders, appointing of sub-contractors, liaising with relevant authorities, site supervision and finally commissioning of Mechanical Building Services.

 

Joseph  is currently acting as the Project Mechanical Engineer of DESIGN-ONE and joined the firm in 2006
